RITA ..O...RITA ,,No MoRe deRITA

Hurricane Rita was hitting southern parts of US recently. Like in New Orleans, southern Texas was not exceptional. I had a chance to visit the seaside of Corpus Christi beach, one of the prominent places in Kingsville, a town which about I guess 3 hours drive away from Mexico border.

AT CORPUS CHRISTI BEACH, KINGSVILLE - South TexasThe beach has nothing outstanding compared to the beach in my hometown, Kerteh. But locals liked to spend time here 'cos i guess it was the only beach available in the area. Otherwise, they had to cross Mexico border for a nicer and best view beaches.

AT TEXAS A&I UNIVERSITY, KINGSVILLE, SOUTH TEXASSome of the Malaysians in Texas A&I University. In general, this place was a very peaceful place to live in. Good community, more like a kampung style.. at least what I could experience.

MY BELOVED TWINS

MY FOUR-DAY TRIP TO CAIRO, EGYPT

Cairo is basically a very nice place to visit if you are a history lover. So many great and amazing ancient places available for u to dig the story about pharoahs and mummies. The heart of the city is no other than the Nile river. I was 'fortunate' to be given a hotelroom facing that spectacular river. Spectacular not only because it is so big and uncontaminated but also because of the glittering activities happened at night there.

Besides the history of Moses (Nabi Musa) printed on the river, Nile nowadays is very popular of BELLY dancing on river cruises. At night you will see names of big big cruises operating....like THE PHarOAH, Nile Stigma.. plus numbers of small boats.. You could be able to see the dancer on the cruise dancing from the bridge that crossed the river. The bridge was a popular spot where egyptians liked to bring their family for picnic. Do not be suprised!.. Egyptians liked to go out at night for picnic 'cos ...it was colder than the day time. Locals would also like to be in the small boats at the riverside...just to listen to music!

In front of a SPINX

In front of one of the PYRAMIDS

Pyramids and spinx are located at the outskirt of Cairo. U would see three pyramids, the tallest i guess as high as an eight storey building. At the spinx there were a number of small pyramids. At the tallest pyramid, I were given only 5 minutes to look around and take pictures..So, I didn't have time to go inside the pyramid to see where the mummies used to be.. . The was a small passage in the pyramid that led to the place..

The most unpleasant thing happened around the pyramids was some unresponsive locals who liked to take advantage out of tourists naivity about the place. They would offer to take pictures for you for like 2 egypt pounds/shot. Then they would lead you to, as what they said, the more nice views of the pyramids to take more pictures. Of course, they would actually help you take pictures but after that, you were either being charged with an "unbelievable" price or if you were get more"luckier", you could even get robbed.

Money is the most important thing in Egypt 'cos alot of their populations are poor. So, they would do anything to get as much money as they can especially from the tourists. This happened to a guy in my group who bought 4 glass of mango drink, a very common refreshment in Egypt, at a stall . Before buying, the seller told the guy that a glass would cost 3 egypt pounds. The guy gave 20 pounds for the drinks and expected the seller to give back the change of 8 pounds. When he asked, the seller said "NO change" '.....'cos he suddenly raised up the price to 5 pounds for each glass.

At a mediterannean SEA, Alexandria (Iskandariah), Egypt

Alexandria is located at the seaside of a Mediteranean sea which is 2 hours drive up north Cairo. It is supposed to be an old town which a lot of historic buildings at the seaside. But apparently it looks more modern compared to Cairo itself. At the time this photo was taken, a big sport event was on going at the other side of this sea, which was at Athens, Rome.. who can guess..what was it????

shOOt tO the STARS with NASA

Being in Florida, I took the opportunity to visit one of the American proud...NASA.There was one NASA center back in Houston,Texas which was much closer to the university where I got my degree. But I had never had a chance to go there. That's where RITA is attacking right now.

AT THE ENTRANCE OF NASA'S CONVENTION CENTER.
Here you are able to buy gifts and watch things related to our solar system just like what you can see at OUR Planetarium in M'sia/

EXPLORER SPACESHUTTLE
This is a spaceshuttle that already went to the moon. Visitors were allowed to go for sightseeing inside the corkpit. It was definitely ...AMAZING.. looking at the aviation technology they already haD at that time...

OTHER ROCKETS PUT ON DISPLAY

DISNEY WORLD, FLORIDA - WAY TO GO

EpCOT Center - Go ROUND & ROUND a spiral and discover the truth and uniqueness about SCIENCETHE LiViNg Sea - A great way to indulge into a sea worLD....You could even find MErMAIDs down there....
These photos were taken during my trip to Orlando, Florida on September, 1991. That was before I went to New Orleans. It was fall but the weather was kind of hot in Orlando that time. I had bought a ticket worth US$144.00 for a four-day visit to DisNey WorLD. It would definitely take 4 DAYS to cover all 4 GREAT adventurous and entertaining locations inside Disney World; 1) MAGIC KINGDOM 2) EPCOT CENTER 3) DISNEY MGM STUDIOS & 4)DISNEY BOARDWALK. To go from one location to another, u have to take an LRT type of train.
AT DISNEY MGM STUDIO

U can stay in Disney World Resort if u were rich enough, like Fauziah Latiff did when she was married to the son of Selangor sultan. 'Cos each night of stay, u had to pay US$1000. With that amount of money, u would get a luxury hotelroom located a few walks away to Disney World.
Of course, I could not afford that. I chose to stay at the INN (forgot its name) which was half an hour drive to Disney. That small room cost me US$33/night. Pretty good deal, huh? Driving was not a big deal 'cos I had a rented car.

Halal Food? No big deal also. I had cooked rice and fried a can of sambal sardine using a rice cooker inside my room. That sambal must be PEDAS and SEDaP, right? So, i added in chillie paste and a little Belacan,and....fried them nicely. UUUUMMMM ...ummmMM gOOd, ..But the SmoKe?? THANk GOD, the smoke detector wasn't working! Otherwise, they would call a fire-fighter...And I could be in DEEEEP Trouble.

I had plenty of food stored in my car booth to cater for the whole trip. I also bought some fruits like Florida oranges and grapefruits at the stall along a Florida highway. Very Cheap and Fresh!

CUTI...OOO..CUTI .. JGN KAU PERGI

ALAMAK! CUTI DAH NAK ABIS... EEEE.... TAK SERONOKNYE@$%^&*

AUTUMN IN MY HEART

THis is one of my favourite photos, taken in front of my townhouse back in Indianapolis, Indiana. The weather was pretty cold. I think I was wearing the kind of dress that matched the season: FALL. Wasn't I?

A NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS

On my way to New Orleans from Mobile, Alabama. Two hours drive

The night at New Orleans downtown

At a flee market called French Market at downtown New Orleans.

< src="">"> Inside the French Market. Can You Find me in the picture?

These are among the photos shot during my visit to New Orleans in 1991.
I could not forget a very famous street in this town called Bourbon Street. It was kind of a quiet street during daytime where u could see not many people passing by. But when the night came, the area changed dramatically. The street became so crowded with people drinking, singing and laughing all night. It was really SCARY to walk thru the street with so many people got drunk.

There were also rows of strip clubs and discos along the street that offered .. YOU KNOW WHAT!. Many sorts of promotions U would find on their doors to draw people in, from a typical porno pictures to a woman's taunting leg which sudeenly came out over a small window sretching so far to a pedestrian walkway. U might bump your nose to it if u were not being careFUL enough...!I actually didn't expect that was how New Orleans life looked like before I went there...I was also quite suprised to find one arab guy who could do soveniour business for six years at a place like that. Ironically, that guy was so happy to meet us and even gave us FREE soveniours...!

You know what happened to our car on the way back to Mobile( we got M'sia friends who studied there)???? Its tyre got punched after hitting a hard object on the road. We were stranded at the deserted highway for more than two ours that night.. That was the MOST scary part of all......
